The sound of waves, as they crash against the shore and recede, fills my eardrums. My thoughts lie elsewhere…. I think of the bitter winter somewhere up north that is to come. I can almost feel the mercury dipping down my spine. I shiver, unconsciously.
I am well prepared, or so I think, for my mind continues to wander, unable to focus on the present. Everything that has taken place in the last two decades remains a haze, like pieces of a dream long forgotten that I am struggling to put it back in place. I crave to go back in time to the good "old" days. My body lives in the present, my soul in the past and the mind drifts between these and the future that beckons. It is this state of the three essentials that make the "me" that, I am that confuses me the most.
